Absence is Carlos Martins’ latest release from December 2014 and an emotional dedication to his friend and fellow musician and composer Bernardo Sassetti, who deceased in 2012. The album is coming back to an essential understanding of jazz, reduced to simple, but well composed melodies and the devout sound that is revealed in this album. This record is a memorable celebration of silence and contemplation, of reflection and memories, of friendship and love.
