The Orquestra Sons da Lusofonia is a project by Carlos Martins in which he brought together about 20 musicians from 7 countries to work together for a period of roughly 3 years. The musically rich and diverse results of this project are compiled on this record, containing new compositions by Carlos Martins as well as arrangements of traditional songs from Sao Tomé, Angola, Cabo Verde, Brasil, Mozambique and Portugal– some of them are accompanied by lyrics that are derived from traditional lusophone poetry.
