Carlos Martins, director of Festa do Jazz and president of the Association Sons da Lusofonia, is offering an exclusive production workshop at the Conservatory in Funchal (Madeira).

The Association Sons da Lusofonia has been launching the new Portuguese jazz project “Portugal em Jazz” earlier this year, a project that aims at fostering the Portuguese jazz scene by creating a nationwide map of jazz-related institutions, schools and activities, by linking musicians and cultural actors and by creating a strong network of jazz education as well as offering workshops and masterclasses. Besides those activities, “Portugal em Jazz” is launching a composition award for outstanding composers of improvised music and is creating a new jazz ensemble.
